Tomorrow is the day I've been dreading.

So, tomorrow I venture forth into a strange and frightening land, bridal boutiques. I'm not quite sure why everyone thinks I should be so excited by this. I'm just going to shut my eyes and try to get it over with quickly. There's only thing that could possibly cheer me up about this expedition - These two darlings that I babysit for playing dress up in my sewing room with wigs and veil trying to give me inspiration.

So...I guess I am officially a really lazy blogger

I haven't posted a thing since my first blog a few months ago and now all of my interest has shifted from fixing up our  house to planning a wedding- because we're engaged! And all I can think about are frilly romantic things, in a way that shocks even me. But I can't help it, wedding fever has a hold of me now and there's no use resisting. Just look at all the lovely things I've been obsessing over.

want our reception just like this!

& this!

looooove this dress.
Reminds me of Giant Dwarfs Stars on steroids
Our amazing friend Anna's doing the flowers
Gotta get some vintage in here somewhere

Falling Up!

Most of you probably know our exciting news this Fall, the year...this century.
We just bought our first house!!!

I'm so grateful that all the painting, wallpapering, gardening, and spiffing up that I love to do won't just be left behind as I move on to another rental. It's finally for our forever house! I first saw this 1956 ranch house on a whim with a realtor friend Sarah and fell in love with all the built in cabinets, green house and general midcentury awesomeness; but it seemed totally out of reach. sigh.........

Four months later when Andrew and I decided we were ready to start actually looking to buy it was STILL on the market at an even lower price!!!!   As soon as we'd made an offer I  became a firestorm of  elaborate plans for decorating and renovating every room simultaneously. And of generally driving Andrew insane with my constant, "do you like this or this better? Should that room have a rustic modern vibe or like a bohemian rainbow feeling?" I had 12 giant mountains of pictures and swatches and paint samples for all 12 rooms.  But now that we've been moved in for a month the craziness has subsided and I keep reminding myself that we have years to get around to everything that I envision. And while I love all the decorating projects this house has waiting for me, I'm mostly looking forward to having space where our giant family of friends and relatives can celebrate together.

Here's some pictures from before we moved in and hopefully I'll post up some after pics soon!
